How to turn screen on during partial wake lock?

My ipod is a vegetable the only thing i can do is turn the screen off by holding down home and lock buttons?

first i had my friend jailbreak it then i was in safe mode so i redid the jailbreak myself so then iwas in safe mode again so i tried to redo the jailbreak but nothing happened so i restoed it but thr jailbreak was still there and then i selected to delete all data at first it showed a progress bar but when it finished all it showed was an apple i can power the screen down. now all i can do besides that is try to rejailbreak which fails. im desperate for answers suggestions. i will take any suggestion for any version of itouch software i need my ipod to work. i rely on it for so mny things. i have a 2g ipod touch which before ran ios 4 it was jailbroken with redsnOw 9.5 beta.

The only thing you can try is a restore from your computer. Be careful with jailbreaking. If the restore does not work you may have bricked your ipod, meaning you can use it as a nice door stop or paperweight.
