Car audio amplifier help?

Help me Choose an Amplifier for my Car Audio System..?

  • I recently bought a pair of Pyramid 15" 800 watts subs(PW1577X)...and a pair of Pyle 6"/9" 800 watts Speakers...All are of 4 ohm impedance...So which amplifier should I buy to run them??..I was thinking of a multi-Channel amplifier. But I dont know which one to buy...Can I simply buy a 3200 Watts Amplifier??or is there anything more I should Look into??

  • Answer:

do not just buy a 3200 watt amp.....to get the most out of your system, you'll want an amp for the subs and an amp for the 6 by 9's.If you want bass :your gonna want a mono (one channel) amp for the subs or a 2 channel amp (bridged). now for the 6\9's you'll be fine with "any ol 2 channel amp" no more than 150 to 200 "TRUE" watts. As for the subs you would have to find out the TRUE wattage on the 15(pw1577x) I would guess no more than a TRUE 400 watts by 2 channel amp. bridged its 800 total watts. but a TRUE 3200 watt amp would melt all them speakers.
