What can I do with old remote controls?

How can I find out which remote controls are compatible with my DVD player?

  • My dog chewed up the remote controller that came with our Panasonic DVD/VCR player (model PV-D4752). So since I need to buy a new one anyhow, I'd like to find one that actually works on the TV AND the DVD player. In the past, universal remotes that worked on our TV (early 1990's model) and our old VCR would not work with our DVD player, nor would the DVD remote control the TV. How can I find out which remotes will be compatible with both?

  • Answer:

Go to any place that sells aftermarket remotes and most have programable ones. Look on the packaging for your Panasonic brand. (Usually a list on the back) If it's listed one of the program codes will work for your DVD player. Another option is to contact Panasonic themselves for a replacement, but it will probally be pricy. However some after market remotes don't offer all the features that the manufactur's does.
