Why can't I open Hotmail on my macbook?

I cant disable digital audio output on my macbook and hence cant use the speakers, ideas?

  • i have a 3 month old macbook and after a recent software update, my internal speakers are essentially disabled, i cant use them or change their volume, the dont show up in OSX. I think I know that my audio output mode is set to digital (and the red light is comming out of the headphone jack..), but there is no apparent setting for me to change. any ideas?

  • Answer:

system prefs -> sound -> output disconnect all external audio plugs... choose the internal speakers.

Should be under Sound in System Preferences - you may have to select a different processor if you had a firmware update, but it should be hot switchable from there.

You have it set to digital when it should be set to analog. A digital signal coming out of the jack without a Digital to analog (D/A) converter on the other end will just sound like a dial-up modem as it's connecting. Make sure it's in the right output jack too (analog output, not a digital one, unless the only output can be switched between digital and analog).
