What's the current itouch firmware?

I have 32g 3rdG jailbroken itouch and I want to update from 3.1.3 to the latest. Can I jailbreak it with the latest? If not can I get an older firmware in the 4.X.X that's got an untethered jailbreak?

The latest iOS that is confirmed for jailbreak is iOS 4.2.1 which can be Jailbroken with greenpois0n. I am sure iOS 4.3 is in the making for a jailbreak. iOS 4.1 is the most stable iOS for both jailbroken and non-jailbroken iPod Touches.
