Answer:
Games consoles output either stereo @ line level output or digital audio for a Receiver to decode such as DTS/Dolby What i think you want to do is use the Analogue audio out and basically amplify that to drive a Subwoofer. As a Subwoofer is a speaker, your question throws me a little. But basically a reasonable amp connected to the stereo Analogue out of any modern games console (if your sub has a good resonant frequency) and can handle the bass (games consoles today will really punish a Subwoofer that isn't really a Subwoofer ,but a bass speaker made to look cool) so ensure you keep it within its RMS rating. Find out if it can handle 30Hz and Below. You may want to use an amp that will sum (add together or mix)left and right stereo for the sub,as not every explosion or bassy sound is mono on some titles so you may need to ensure you get both channels audio. *If what you really mean is connect an amplified mains powered sub all in one box, all your cables should come with unit, it won't be as good as finding a good Subwoofer and cab, but will work fast and be acceptable. You have to be careful not to connect left and right line together without a summing buffer , i.e like literally wiring left and right line level together as this can damage any output stage of stereo audio chips-and it may be delayed damage. As a quick way you could amplify one channel for it's bass if funds restrict you while using other speakers so you can hear bass, mid-range and top end. It's limited by your funds really Get a feel for what the sub can handle before you push it, I've known many people blow them. There is a dedicated sub out when your output is digitally decoded, that is usually far superior an experience as it's how things were designed.

You will need a Powered Sub Unit. Simply hook up your audio outputs from the TV set to the inputs of the Sub Unit and adjust the Sub Controls for crossover and level. It works for me.
