How do you fax a simple document?

If I am on my computer how can I fax a document from my computer to a fax machine in the same room?

  So you want to use the fax machine as a printer? There were some modems made that allow you to do this, but chances are that yours doesn't... if only by the virtue that you'd only buy such a modem if you knew what you were doing. Your best bet is to find two phone lines and have the modem fax it over normally.
