How can i record sound from my tv and transfer it to my laptop?

there's a song i've been hearing in a commercial, and i've tried everything to find the name of the song. i tried shazam, i've tried looking for it by writing the lyrics in google... but it's like the song doesn't exist! so i wanna record it from the tv in great quality maybe it would help me find the name by maybe posting a question here with the song. i've tried different ways to record it, but the quality is always bad. is there a way to plug my tv to my laptop and record it, using maybe a downloadable program or something like that? thanks in advance :)

Use a DVD Recorder or a DVR to record the commercial. Then get the file to your computer. You will need a NLE that has the ability to lock down any line on the timeline. The NLE I have does that and is named Pinnacle Studio 14 HD Ultimate.
