If I buy the Amazon Kindle in the USA, will it work in Canada?

I heard about the Amazon Kindle, and I was wondering--if I bought it in the USA next month, would it work here in Canada? And if not, does anyone know if they're planning on making it work for Canada?

Yes, it will work in Canada. But you need a credit/debit card issued by a US bank and a US billing address to buy books and the Kindle itself. The Whispernet feature (wireless delivery) will not work in Canada, but you can still buy Kindle books from Amazon.com and download it to your Kindle via a USB cable they provide. I've had my Kindle for more than a year now, and I've been traveling a lot and taking it with me everywhere. It works everywhere as long as you have a valid credit card. All I needed really was a travel adapter so I can charge it anywhere. It's dual voltage. I haven't heard of any plans to make it available to Canada and the rest of the world. Even the Kindle 2, I heard, will be exclusive to US customers only. If you don't have a US credit card, you might want to consider the Sony Digital Reader 700. It's touch screen. US$399, and is available in Canada. Although the books in Sony ebookstore are more expensive than Amazon Kindle books. My sister has the Sony PRS700 and she loves it. No whispernet feature.
