How do I convert my .avi movie file to .vob so that I can play dvd in any dvd player?

  • I have avi. movie files that I downloaded that will not play in my flat screen dvd player. Put in both of my cheap little portable dvd player and it played all the way through. Some one said I have to convert it to .vob format because many dvd players cant play .avi format files. Could I convert it using Hamster free video converter or would you recommend something (FREE) else. When I put the dvd in my flat screen tv it says "Unknown Disk"

Hello, if you wanna convert and burn avi movie files to dvd to play well on dvd players, you should note, most dvd players only recognize video dvd format well which include the VOB, IFO, BUP files, not separate VOB files, so you'd better use a right software to convert your avi movie files to video dvd format then burn to dvd disk, that would be played well on dvd player, But I don't think there's a free software can help you, I tried many free software before, can't find a good one, some poor quality, some even virus, so now Im using a cheap software RZ DVD Creator to do that, you can have a try, it can convert any formats movie files to video dvd format and burn to any dvd disk, such as convert avi movie files to video dvd format then burn to dvd disk, easy to use, insert a dvd disk into your computer dvd burner drive, run RZ DVD Creator, select the dvd burner drive as the target folder, drag and drop your avi movie files into the software, then press the START button, you will get a right video dvd which can be played well in your DVD players, you can yahoo or google search and download RZ DVD Creator, very cheap, hope it could help you.

Convert it into vob is still not able to run in DVD player. You need a software to convert it into DVD format disk. Try a software called ConvertXtoDVD. Very easy to use.
