Why my computer will not recognize my gps i cant seem to down load the firmware to the gps?

  • i have nextar gps i need to up grade it i down loaded firmware it dosent matter what i do i cant load update to gps my computer will not recognize the gps for me to down load update thanks

    I believe the Nextar GPS hooks up to your computer with a USB connection so as soon as it is plugged in and turned on, Windows should recognize it instantly. If this is not happening, then there is likely a software problem with your USB port. Do you have any other USB devices? If so, do they work correctly? If not, check in control panel > device manager. Do you have yellow question marks in there? Specifcally look by the Universal Serial Bus controller. You may have to reinstall or update your USB drivers. Go to the manufacturer of your motherboard's website and download/install the latest USB drivers.
