Is there a Dish Network in Brasil?

Is a dish a dish. More specifically, can I use a Dish Network dish with Directv receivers?

  • Ok here it is. I unfortunately have to switch from DN to DTV. When I go camping in my RV I take another DN dish with me to get a signal and don't have to bother the fixed one on my roof. So, now that I am switching providers, I would like to know if I can continue to use the DN dish that I own with a DTV receiver. The way I see it is, a dish is a dish. Besides when I've looked in RV supply catologues in the past they advertise mobile dish 's that are compatible with both providers. Thanks folks.

  • Answer:

The dish is not likely going to be the issue, the circuitry within the box is. As many providers use the same hardware, they hack/lock it (just like wireless phone providers) to work only with their service.

I am helping a buddy out with his satellite system...His new house has a dish network dish but he wants directv...Check out this link... http://www.rapidsatellite.com/detail.aspx?ID=58 Notice it states "Any manufacturer dish is compatible with any receiver." So the dish itself will work, you will still need a directv LNB...Make the mast that holds the LNB will be able to hold the directv LNB...I am not sure that it will...So with the directv LNB's about 39 bucks and a whole new satellite dish and LNB's about 49 bucks(satellitewarehouse.com for example, there are plenty out there that will sell you a satellite without a contract), I am going to recommend my buddy just buy a whole new dish system for 10 bucks more just for the piece of mind.
