How do I hook up my DTV converter box?

DTV Converter box and hook up?

  • Years ago I had my home wired so that I could watch satellite channels and/or local channels from any room in my home by putting the TV that I wanted to watch satellite on to Channel 29. This was before they had receivers available for each room in the house. I receive more local channels from my antenna than are offered through my satellite company and want to keep my antennae. When I connect my DTV Converter box to television, I can get my local channels but can no longer get my satellite channel. Any suggestions?

  • Answer:

You haven't given us much to work with....but I'm guessing you didnt have the antenna connected to the TV before. You must have and the antenna connected to some box that let you switch between satellite and regular antenna. If thats true, then don't connect the converter box to the tv. Instead, connect it where you used to have the antenna connected and connect the antenna to the converter box. Alternatively, the converter box has at least 2 kinds of outputs, and RF out that you can connect to an antenna input of the TV .... and 3 red, white and yellow connectors that have video and audio signals on them. If your TV or other devices have compatible inputs, use those instead of the antenna input. Thats what I Do... When I want to use the box, I switch the TV to use its AV1 input.
