Electonics a level project question.?
-
Im about to start my electronics project for my a level course. I was thinking of doing something i could plug my guitar into to give it an effect. The spec for the project says the project must have 5 'blocks' of electronics, i.e an A/D converter set up is 1... if that makes sense... a part of the circuit that does a particular job. So my question is, could I put the analogue signal from my guitar into an A/D converter, what would this do to the sound? Im not really sure of where i want to go, but i was wondering what would happen if i did this. I mean, ive made a wah circuit before, but not at college, and our teacher isnt keen on us going wild, so i might try a switch leading to different op-amp set ups, to get different types of distortion. anyone have any suggestions for something i could do with this?

Answer:
well anologue to digital is quite simple to understand , (especially ,if you eard a few pages of the link supplied).Though it can in the end get quite technical. Its basically a lot to do with bit rates. And what happens when you change them and also if you tamper with (say the timeline ,when in digital after you have converted it). if you connect your guitar to your pc then nothing will happen to its sound (except it will get coverted to Digital( and hence become clearer . Explained in page 1 and 2..(of link) Your pc will capture the sound in a quite high bitrate , say 328bits/second.= clean & clear If you were then to bring up your sound recorder from your pc , you would be able to record the soud from your guitar for up to 1 minute.... You could then stretch the timeline ,within your recording and the sound from your guitar recording would change dramatically . Have a go , if you have any fear -then 1st simply record into Sound Recorder through a mic using your voice -then have a play...Ive done this & its great fun. The same would happen if you plugged your guitar into your line in. The process thats occured is your Anologue voice was recorded in pc but changed 1st to Digital...you then played around with a simple time line in Sound recorder and Wow!!. Think of what you could do now ,if you changed the bit rate of this recording from 328 bits/ second to 8! Sound recorder can be found under All programs - Accesories -> Entertainment heres the link to explain:_ http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/317/3
