Can anyone tell which cable i should buy or how to do the connection so i get sound from my tv through my amplifier? Thank you!

  • Answer:

You cannot connect the Digital Audio socket on the box to the red/white sockets on your amplifier and make it work. The red and white inputs are analogue so the digital signal is incompatible with it. You could even damage your amplifier if you keep trying this. Use the second SCART socket on the Freeview box to provide an audio output for your amplifer. You must get a SCART plug that has three phono sockets attached (red, white, yellow). Connect the red and white sockets of this to the red and white sockets of your amplifer and it will all work. Ignore the yellow one. Have a look at the Maplin one (catalogue item number L84BA) £9.99 to see the thing you need. http://www.maplin.co.uk/scart-to-phono-out-adaptor-26540

there are two ways in which you can obtain sound from your amplifier, the first way of connecting. 1/ you will need one scart socket without the leads, instead for the leads there will be three female connectors, 1 red audio, 1 white audio, 1 yellow video, connect this to the T.V you will need a scart socket with audio leads coming from the scart socket 1 red audio, 1 white audio, 1 yellow video, connect this to the ferguson freeview box which might say T.V out, the yellow lead coming from the scart socket which is now connected to the ferguson freeview box plug this in to the yellow female connector in the back of the scart socket on the T.V the red and white leads plug these in to the amplifier and the result is you will get picture from the T.V and sound from the amplifier. second way of obtaining sound from your amplifier. if your T.V has a seperate audio jack at the back of the T.V, you will need a mini 3.5mm audio plug with red and white leads coming out of it, simply plug these leads in to the amplifier and the other end in to the T.V. for sound.
