Are HD radios any good?

As local television stations switch from analog to HD broadcasting, will radios no longer pick up simulcasts?

  • Answer:

to my knowledge simulcasts will not be affected, seing how HD primarily pertains to Video resolution, it should still brodcast both in stereo (which is used for simulcasts, and HD tv's) and 5.1 Dolby Digital (for surround sound). HDTV currently brodcasts in stero and has embeded 5.1 dolby digital. This is taking into account that the FCC dosent push for HD-Radio (which is active, active beeing only one or two radio stations, in Very large Metro areas example: Dallas Tx has only one HD-Radio station) additionally simulcast will be up to the brodcaster, weather they will support stereo or do away is up to the broadcasting company.
