How do I hook up my DTV converter box?

DTV converter box hook to VCR problem. help?

  • ok, so i looked up videos and instructions on various websites on how to hookup the converter box to my VCR to record, and i followed the instructions but somethings wrong because there's always static in the background. i can see the picture and i can hear what they're saying but there's too much static. i tried changing channels, i tried channel 3, 4, and i tried the AUX channels and nothing seems to work. i even disconnected and reconnected everything. could someone please help me out. thanks.

  • Answer:

How are you selecting the channel you want to watch? You can't select the channel with the VCR when you're using a converter box. You select the channel with the converter box. Set the VCR to channel 3 or 4, which ever channel the converter box is sending the signal out on. Set your VCR to 3 and if it doesn't work try 4. Then select the channel with the converter box. You should get a good, clear signal. You will need an antenna for the converter box. Some people seem to think an antenna isn't needed with a converter box but this isn't true. You still need an antenna.

If you have a video/audio input available on the VCR, 3 connectors:red white and yellow, use those to connect the dcb to the vcr instead of the RF out and input. Digital pictures should be crystal clear. Either you are still getting an analog signal into the VCR (as if the dcb isnt powered up) or the noise is getting in between the vcr and the TV.
