How do I clean my Earphones?

How much would you spend on good quality earphones?

  • In the past when I used to wear earphones, I would buy them for about £10. Then I started to buy better headphones, about £20 roughly. I am after some earphones as I have a pair of headphones. The ones i'm looking at are £18. They're a good brand I know that for sure and they have great reviews too. I won't say which one as I don't want answers saying they're **** and I should buy a different pair. The thing is, would £18 be worth it for earphones? (Consider the fact they're a trustworthy/big brand) I have never spent much on earphones in the past so i'm unsure. Thanks.

  • Answer:

As a rule the more you pay the better you get unless the Brand is more about image such as Bose and Dr Dre which are good but way over priced. A good source of information is Head-fi.org and a great comparison of earphones although a few years old is http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15243 Also Headroom for some great reviews http://www.headphone.com/headphones/ It also depends on what you listen on and at what quality - an ipod playing 128kbps MP3's would not benefit from high end earphones as they would show up imperfections in the music but with Lossless Audio like Flac or even 320kbps MP3 the better they will sound with better earphones.

I spent £60 on a pair of headphones- a sennhieser pair. And they have lasted over 3 years and have brilliant sound quality. It is worth saving up and shopping around- honest.

Hard to render an opinion since you're keeping the brand & model such a deep dark secret.

So far I've paid $300 for my Shure SE530s. One of these days I'd like to get some really good custom JH Audios for $1500+.

£18 for a pair of earphones is absolute peanuts. Anything you buy at that price is just throwaway junk. "Good quality" earphones start at around £50 and go up from there. If you think you're getting good quality for £18, you need to get out more and take a look at the real world...

Matt

£12.
