How do you burn videos or movies to a CD-R and play in on a normal DVD player?
-
Ok i have a lot of cd-r's and I want to be able to burn movies or my video clips onto them. What format should the file be to be able to play the disk in a normal dvd player. BTW i know about the divx and xvid way. But I want to be able to play the disk's in my other dvd player that doesn't support DIVX. What software do I need to convert the videos to the appropriate file extension and program to actually burn the disk? Thanks

Most normal dvd player only recognize the stardard video DVD, you should convert your videos or movies to standard video DVD, then burn on cd-r disc, there is an easy way can help you, you can try RZ DVD Creator, it can directly convert any videos or movies to standard video DVD and burn to any writeable disc(cd-r, dvd-r, dvd+r, dvd-rw, dvd+rw, etc), normal DVD player can play standard video DVD well. You can yahoo or google search and download rz dvd creator, easy to use, work well, hope it can help you.
There are free programs out there to do what you want, but since I don't use any of them, I can't recommend any of them. I've been using Nero for years to burn video DVDs and it's also good for burning video CDs. I've also used Magix in the past to make video CDs and it works decently, too. While video DVDs are based upon the basic MPEG-2 encoding engine, video CDs use the MPEG-1 engine (vcd), so resolution is not as good. Still, it's adequate and almost all DVD players these days will recognize it. Perfectly viewable material. Don't attempt to use the svcd format, Super video CD, as it attempts to create a video CD version using the MPEG-2 engine. Most DVD players do NOT recognize it.
