How do I decode a movie?

How can I decode a Divx movie to play on my DVD player?

  • Answer:

I'm not sure if you have to do anything or not. Many consumer DVD burner programs will perform the CODEC conversion for you. Others will not. Those that will not will require that you make an intermediate conversion to an MPEG-2 format file before you burn it to DVD. Basically you have a downloaded movie that uses one compression method and a target system that requires another. So a conversion has to take place. This will require "rendering" to convert. Either you will have to do it or the burner program will. Either way expect a long DVD burn time.

u can always try a dvd burner and copier called dvd shrink. it should convert it so that it can play in your dvd palyer, but some players are too old or are too "cheap" to be able to play certain movie types so u may be out of luck.
