What Is The Best Simple eReader?

  • I have a Sharper Image Literati now. It's alright, but it's bulky and the battery life is pitiful. I was looking to upgrade to either a Kindle Touch or a Nook Simple Touch. I don't want to watch TV or movies on it. I'm just not sure which would be the best for just reading. I know the Kindle has longer battery life and can store more books, but I just love Barnes and Noble. Are there any really outstanding features of either one?

    For just reading, an ereader with an E Ink display is ideal. It uses ambient light like a physical book rather than back-lighting like a computer display. E Inks are no good for video, apps, or web browsing, but it sounds like you're fine with that. Among the E Ink ereaders, Kindle ereaders and Nook Touch offer the best value. Kindle advantages: lower-cost/3G/keyboard models available, Text-To-Speech, MP3 support, landscape mode, international book buying, Amazon's financial strength. Nook Touch advantages: less page-turn flashing, EPUB support, SD memory expansion port.
