Lithium and Alkaline Batteries?

Which batteries last longer : Alkaline or lithium?

  • I need two AA batteries for my digital camera for a overseas trip for one month. I need batteries to last that long. which one shall go for?

  • Answer:

Primary (non-rechargeable) batteries have a few different chemistries (types) Lithium batteries generally have an amp-hour rating of 3000mAh to 3400mAh. Alkalines are about 2400mAh to 2800mAh. If the batteries cannot be changed at any point, Lithium is the way to go. Personally, I'd bring a solar recharger and some nickel-metal-hydride (NiMH) as well, and use the lithium cells as a backup.

Other answers

If you will use the camera quite a bit, bring a couple set AA Lithium or NiMH and a charger (with travel adapter).
