What's wrong with my DVR for Comcast?

I am fed up with Comcast. Anyone have DirecTV and DSL Internet? Is it worth it?

  • Comcast service sucks. I am officially done with them. My bill is usually $140. 2 months ago it went up to $160. This month it is $260. I called and asked why it went up $100 and they said that it is a service charge. A service charge for what? It cant be for good service because i call once a week because my internet goes out and my phone wont work. I am cancelling and getting DirecTV. The only problem is I have to get DSL but at this point I dont know I would notice the slow Internet since My internet is so hit in miss. DSL is advertised at 6mbps for the Service I want, while Crapcost is supposed to be 20mbps but usually it takes 3 seconds for espn to load, which my buddy with DSL said is what it takes his on a bad day, so am I really losing much? I know downloads will take forever, but whatever. So is it worth the switch? DirecTV has a deal going on with ATT right now for like $120 i would get phone, internet, and satelite(220 channels, plus hd and dvr) -- sounded dang good to me...whats your input dsl and directv'ers?

I am a contractor for all major tv providers and these are the facts. your service is only as good as the tech who installed it regardless of the provider. problems I see with cable installs are a bad main line from the tap to the house for starters. ariel lines get chewed up from squirrels and lines exposed on the ground get chewed from rabbits. once in the house cable installers are notorious for multiple splitters throughout the house. the more splitters the worse the signal. poor quality coax is another issue. rg59 bad, rg6 good. the difference is the size of the conductor. the correct way to wire comcast with internet is as follows. the main line comes in to the junction area and connects to a two way splitter. one of the two outputs of the splitter is connected to the line that feeds the internet and the other feeds another splitter that feeds the rest of the house. as a customer you can request a new main line be put in for no charge. now as for satellite the techs are usually more qualified but you never know. people who complain about there service going out in storms didn't get there dish peaked correctly. To answer your question if I were to install a service it would be great regardless of the provider but 95% of other installers are incompetent so good luck. check your lines and re post if needed. I check the site once a week at least
