South Indians: About use of induction stove..?

  • Quite a few companies are promoting the sale of Induction stoves with one year guarantee and all. How many have used the stove and what are your views on its performance? Wikipedia says it was popular with US clients. Is the products pushed here for sale as good and useful? In the wake of much delay in supply of cooking gas refills by Indane in particular - due to large scale distribution of free stove to the poor by Tamilnadu govt which has to be followed up by the Indane, a PS organisation! - the supply of cylinders to agents are very delayed and short of actual demand, while clients with large families are much affected due to delay exceeding a month. Could induction stuff play a good substitute as claimed by the company? Please actual users share your views.

    As far as my family is concerned the induction stove with a control switch to reduce/upgrade the heat volume is useful. But cooking South Indian food varieties like dosa,idli, etc, it is not preferable, as you have to keep the tawa/idli cooker on these stoves. Particularly the Tawa,made of iron, is in direct touch to the top of the stove, which is dangerous. For light cooking like boiling milk, hot water, rasam, etc, it is OK. My wife used to make 'Fulka" on the plate of this stove very effectively. @@ But these induction stoves cannot be a substitute for gas stoves. You can use them like 'emergency lamps", that's all. Daily usage is only for boiling milk, making rasam, (light cooking only)etc.

We are using Induction Stove (Butterfly Make) for more than a year. We find it very useful for fast cooking and Milk Boiling. In my opinion it is better than microwave oven for reheating liquid food stuffs.

don't use these type of stoves. these stoves are very bad. it was failed. because of i had seen and we utilised.
