You need to get a dvd recorder. A regular dvd will not do it.

There's no such thing as "dvd tapes". DVD stands for Digital Video Disc. There are digital tapes but the "DVD" name would not apply to those. There are recordable DVDs (DVD-R) and rewritable DVDs (DVD+RW) but you have to have a DVD recorder, not just a DVD player, to record on them. Alternatively you can burn DVDs with a computer equipped with a DVD burner.

If the dvd player has recording capability yes. But you are transferring from tape to disc, not tape to tape. Dvd players that can record are still reasonably expensive!

yes, they have this equiipment that hooks up to your computers usb connector and comes with software, and what you do is connect your vcr, or cable box, or whatever you want to record to this equipment. using the software, you can either burn it directly to dvd, or you can first record it onto your computer and burn it from there. I found it that if you record it first to your computer and then burn it, the picture quality is better because you can choose the quality of the picture when recording. but the better the picture quality, the more space it uses. its pretty good. I've recorded many vhs to dvd, I even used the software to converted a foreign dvd from pal to ntsc to work in the usa's dvd players.

a. buy a DVD recorder (This is easy way to transfer your VHS Tape to your DVD. Hookup your VCR using RCA (output) to DVD Recorder RCA (Input). Configure your DVD Recorder to the proper configuration by using the DVD recoder manual or seek a professional help.) OR b. used a computer to transfer your Video tapes to DVD. (You need a computer with a PCTV adapter or other hardware, software using Pinnacle, Adobe Premiere, Ulead or the Movie Maker or others, and DVD R/W drive. The hookup are the same from VCR RCA(output) to PCTV adapter RCA (input). This is more complicated compare to the DVD recorder but the result is much more impressive. You can edit or add your video from the VHS tape before you transfer to DVD. This will improve your video creativity)
