How do you get the volume on with an on demand remote control?

• I am staying at familys house, house sitting and I can get the volume to come on to the tv. There are two remotes , one for the motorolla cable box for on demand and one for the tv and neither of them work when we push the volume button up. It shows on the screen that the volume is going up and increasing, but there is still no sound. Does anyone with on demand cable know how to get the volume to actually work to where you can actually hear sound/noise? Please help we have been trying to get it to work all day.

  There are atleast two basic ways to hook up the cable box to your TV. One is through RF connectors which typically uses a coaxial cable, it is a single cable that carries both audio and video, and you are going to set the TV channel to CH3 or CH4 now you can start controlling the box from the remote control. If thats the way it is connected then there should be sound coz RF carries audio and video in the same cable The other connection is through the RCA jack. The video jack in the cable box should be connected to the video input jack in the TV and so as AUDIO jacks in the cable box should be connected to the corresponding audio input jack in TV. Then the TV is set to receive via AV inputs. Now check those cables/connectors athe back of both cable box and TV if they are properly connected. Maybe the audio RCA connectors are loose or detached. They are usually colored red and white while the yellow is for video. Also try, reprogramming the remote of the cable box and try a different code such that you can control the volume of both TV and Box, you may need the Box manual for this.
