Can I use a Marshall Amplifier as a speaker in my car?

Need to amplify speaker output form low powered home amplifier.?

  • Have 6-source 6-zone Kustom 6640 amplifier. It puts out 20 w/channel into 6 ohms. One zone is to power 4- 8 ohm outdoor speakers ( 2 per channel) . Thus there will be 4 ohms per channel. Although the speakers have a sensitivity of 91db they may overload the amp. Is there an amplifier which accepts the speaker input (high level)? This is not for car use. Or must I convert to low level then amp up again? Do you know where these parts can be found? Thanks.

  • Answer:

I just looked at the instructions online. You should only hook up 2 - 8 ohm speakers per zone. If you need four speakers in one zone, then use two zone outputs for that one zone. That should work fine. The amp is not designed for four 8 ohm speakers per zone. That is a good amp, but if you may overload it by trying to connect too many speakers to one zone.
