Which is a better deal, Direct TV or Comcast Cable?

  • I'm moving into a new house next month and can't decide what to get, Direct TV or Comcast cable. I currently have Comcast but their HD selection sucks. A rep told me they are adding 10 more good channels (TLC, Food Network etc) by the end of March. I have never received dish service so I don't know any of the hidden fees or add ons. What would be the most cost effective for this set-up: Digital Cable (I currently have the digital starter package so I can get Center Ice plus HD channels) and HD/DVR with HD service.

    depends. if you want all the channles, Comcast is better. they dont have as good packages as DirecTV, but if you just get the big package that includes everything they are slightly less than DirecTV. i get about medium package and comcast would be way too much at that level, so stick with DirecTV.

PLease, please do not go with DISH NETWORK!!! they are a huge problem and mess up your payments and all and their customer service is really, reallly, really bad and rude. I think comcast is at least better. I've had three terriable incounters with Dish Network. Please don't go with them... They will take up a lot of your time...and waste your time. NO to Dish Network!!!

Well...the difference between directv and Comcast are huge. First of all, as a previous comcast subscriber, let me say that I HATED it. Their customer service sucked, nobody every knew what they were talking about, and at times I needed multiple visits from their technicians to fix a simple problem. Direct offers almost 100 HD channels currently, whilte Comcast has a measly 10. BIGGEST difference. Now, as far as cost effectiveness, Directv has to be the most expensive of all carriers, but it's well worth it if you have an HDTV and want the best lineup. (currently I pay $109.99 For their premier package which includes all channels, including premium movie channels, HD servive, DVR service for 4 rooms.) Not sure what comcast's rates are right now but I'm sure it's less. Of course, you can get smaller packages, as low as $29.99 with directv, but there's nothing on the planet like DirecTV's premier HD package. Hope this helps!

I enjoy my Direct Tv service. I don't know if this is everyones problem, but sometimes it get fuzzy (usually the HD channels) during bad weather. But DirectTv has a lot HD channels, and its amazing to be able to see your favorite tv shows in HD.

don't get comcast as they are a nightmare. see if at&t is in your area and get them, or dish.
