How can I plug a regular phone into my cell phone?

Is there a a converter so that a cell phone can plug into a wall jack?

  • It sounds backwards, but I have no landline service, but I want to use my fax machine sometimes. Is there a converter that will allow me to hook my cell phone to my fax machine and fax documents using my cell phone service?

  • Answer:

Just for some faxes here and there, you might want to consider faxing your documents through an internet fax service. You send the doc via email or a webpage with an upload button on it, and they fax it on their end. Not sure how much they charge, maybe a buck, I dunno. Google the word fax document, the first few entries all do that service. But, there is something called Dock-N-Talk, a cell phone docking station. Its about 137.00. Google Dock-N-Talk. You'll still get dial tone, call waiting, caller ID. But a note from the manufacturer of this product: Digital voice networks do NOT support modem or fax tones. Older analog service will allow use of modems at very low speeds and fax. The Dock-N-Talk will work with certain devices that use DTMF to transmit information such as various makes of security alarm systems. Certain credit card readers, Tivo, Direct TV or other satellite TV systems will only work if your cell phone supports an analog service or communicates using DTMF. So if you got a newer cellphone, its probably digital and you won't be able to use the fax anyways. But it is a nifty ideal.
