What is the best thing to sell on eBay?

Going to the USA. What's the best thing to buy while there and sell at a profit on ebay back home in the UK?

  • I was thinking about buying a Nintendo DS or some other item that costs way more in Sterling in the UK than the yanks can buy it for in the US and then selling it when I get home... could help pay for the trip. The item should be popular and easy to sell and with a big margin. Any ideas???

Don't forget to pay import tax and since you are trading you need to pay tax on your profits too. Or the Customs and Excise and the Inland Revenue will be after you.

Pretty much everything is cheaper in America in the first place - especially because of the exchange rate. Levis always used to be worth it and I know a lot of 'designer' stuff is cheaper there too. I'm not sure about electrical stuff - remember the voltage may be different and the plug will be different too. Happy shopping!

You'll need to be careful with electronic or electrical goods as they use a different power system and you'll need to swap out the adaptors (which will be an additional cost for you). Also their TV formats (PAL versus NTSC) are different so games consoles for the US may not always work in the UK. Maybe try watches or jewellery?
