Casio fx-115 ES Calculator HELP?
-
Hello, my dad bought this calculator because target didn't have the standard calculators in stock and it was the last day I could get one before I got docked points. Well I'm too lazy to go to the store and I already opened this one anyway, but heres where the problem lies: Everytime I Subtract, add, multiply, divide etc. when i'm SUPPOSED to get a decimal, I get a FRACTION.... I tried messing around with it to try to get it so it can show me decimals, go into menu options, even reset the calculator but i guess thats what its supposed to give me? An example would be: If i punched in 25 <divided by sign> 23, it would give me a FRACTION of 25 over 23 instead of the DECIMAL... if anyone has this calculator and knows how to change it to decimals, any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED. thanks, Chris

Answer:
I had the same problem when I first bought mine. Here is what you do. Press the"SHIFT" button in the top left corner, then the "MODE" button on the top right. Select 2: Line10 This will always give you a decimal answer. When you want to switch back to fraction, just select number 1:Mth10 This is my favorite calculator because the fraction input key is awesome. Let me know if you need any further help. BTW. I still use this calculator and I am a sophomore in college. Good Luck Deirdre

I liked the answer about using Mode 2. Keep in mind that you can convert between Standard Form (with fractions and pi) or Decimal form by using the "S<->D" button. Use Mode 1 if you mostly prefer fraction answers and you can use the SD button to convert to decimal or use Mode 2 if you mostly prefer decimal answers and use the SD button to see the fraction.
