Are bonfires legal in NY?

Is this legal or illegal in NY?

• I am looking for an answer from someone who passed the bar in NYS. I live in a city in upstate NY. I am in a co-op. I lead a busy life, but when I find the time I like to talk to the maintenance man who is the same age as me. He doesn't mind this and enjoys talking to me as well. I will not speak with him if he is in a group project, doing dangerous work (ex: high on a ladder) or using a power tool that would make him stop work in order to chat (ex: lawn mower). We will chat for no more than about 10 mins a day if we are able to see each other, and for an extensive period of time due to our own busy lives we did not see each other. When we talk, he does not stop working (ex: putting lights on trees, trimming shrubs, shoveling, etc). The Board of Directors has stated they do not want us talking to each other. The maintenance man said the conversations have not deterred him from his work by any means. The Board of Directors, however, has had no problem before with our chatting. The Board of Directors at our co-op also does not have a rule against other tenants talking to the maintenance man, in which other tenants do chat on occassion. If you need any more details please let me know. The chatting is not flirtatious by any means. I do not see how it is legal if he is getting his work done, nor do I see how it is legal if I am being singled out.

  Only if the by laws prevent it. You need to start attending meetings to voice your complaint.
