Any GOOD CHEAP SAFE apartments near Santa Monica College?

• A friend and I are going to move from Miami to Santa Monica for school and to live there. We've had this dream since we were little kids. I was looking at some schools in the area. I was thinking of going to Santa Monica College for two years and then afterwards transfer to either UCLA or USC to become a dentist. I heard they get paid a ton of money. So I have several questions so I can start off on the right track to begin my dream. What are some good apartments that are CHEAP SAFE AND GOOD in Santa Monica? Any good part time jobs there? Whats the lifestyle like? Is it easy to transfer to USC dental from SMC? What are the basic costs of living there(electric water bill etc.) ? Just give me the basics on everything Santa Monica to survive lol. Thanks :D and btw any hills? And hows the surf ? Surfer and longboarder

  There is always a careful balance you have to draw between good and cheap, because those two terms are not a complimentary pair. Unfortunately rents are much higher here than in Florida. The live style is relaxed. In many ways the weather is similar to Miami, but without that stifling humidity. Santa Monica College has a good reputation and the graduation rate of transfer students to a 4-year California state college is higher than those of incoming freshman to those same 4-year universities.
