Can I pass a credit check if i have no credit? and get into apartment?
-
Hey guys so i am a bit confused hoping to get some good info, and help. I am 18 turned 18, 3 months ago. Currently i am living with a family friend and attending college out of state. I have been here for 10 months, I am wanting to move out and here is my financial situation I work at lexmark and have for 9 months i make 1,300 a month. I also have a student loan and grant that is worth 11,050 a year and after tution and books i have about 6,000 a year in extra money that i can spend on living expenses, so in short I make about 1,700 a month. There is an apartment complex that has a 2 bedroom and a person lives in one bedroom and they are looking to rent out the other bedroom all utilites included, cable and internet included, for $550 a month, the lease is only for 5 months and i have basically enough to pay all 5 months up front if i wanted to, but I would like to pay the normal monthly $550. They are running a credit check, because I just turned 18 what will my score be? I have no credit as of yet not credit cards, and no debt yet because my loans r open and active while i am on school, I have a good job history, good refrences. the complex is on campus and is full of college students, so will i pass the credit check you think? if not can i pay up front? i cant get a co-signer :(

Answer:
If this rental is an on campus facility, you might not have problems as they would understand you, as an 18 year old, would not many if any credit have lines of credit at all. If there are no negatives on your credit report you would probably be accepted and approved. I hope this has been of some benefit to you, good luck. "FIGHT ON"

You are paying the entire length of the lease upfront? All you can do is try. You might be pleasantly surprised. Few landlords turn down rent upfront. Of course, pay by check, and get a receipt that you paid all the months in advance. --- When I was your age, I could not find an apartment to save my life. I had to pay 6 months rent upfront, and show the landlady tax returns, checking/savings account statements, and pay stubs. Without a parent as a co-signer expect to pay that rent upfront.
Go with the flow
Depends on the landlord, but what you are describing - college town, student rental, you will probably be ok. On the credit report, they are probably looking to see if you have past unpaid items.
