North Carolina Research Triangle - where is best place to live with lower housing costs and low crime?

  • We are just about ready to retire and would definitely like to move somewhere near or in the Research Triangle in North Carolina. We are on a limited budget so can't afford a mansion or very expensive housing. We just want a nice home that's relatively inexpensive but the main thing is that we want to be in a low crime area. The other major factor is we want to live in a suburb or development that doesn't seem like big city. Can anyone suggest such a place or recommend a place?
