Are on-line auctions safe?

How do I find bank auctions on foreclosed homes directly, without going through one of the online pay sites ?

  • I'd like to find a house to buy at auction, but am leary of subscribing to the listing sites online. How do I find out about the actual bank auctions ? Thanks !

  • Answer:

You can always check the local legal adds. I live in Georgia and we have a site called georgiapublicnotice.com. Look at your local tax assessor's website, or check out your local newspaper online, maybe your state has a similar site.

Foreclosure auctions are typically announced as Legal Notices in the newspaper classifieds. You can typically search those (for free) on the newspaper's website. They aren't always listed as "Foreclosure Auctions", though - for instance, the Richmond, Virginia, newspaper usually has them listed as "Trustee's Sale".

your local area has a legal newspaper that these notices can be found in. Call your county clerk to see what newspaper these forelcosure notices are displayed in.
