Bought city property, US Dept of Agriculture says I owe them, 2 properties, with same address.?
-
I bought a single family house inside the city limits. I had a bad accident soon after I couldn't pay for house and medical too. Mortgage Co. says Insurance paid, I didn't owe anything. Dec. 2010, I got a statement saying I owed $45,500 for agricultural property. which I did not buy. I asked for the address, it is the same as the city property. I have disputed to the three government agencies. There had been reports from the US Treasury that I owe the money. They are taking $200.+ a month from my SS Retirement check, payable to the US Treasury, starting February 2011. Social Security tells me that they issue the correct amount, the subtraction is coming after they release their amount. I will be 90 years old in August, and in dire need to get this fixed. I gave this problem to an attorney, but she keeps putting me off. I only want the money we worked for since WW 2. Why is the Dept of Treasury taking money from my Social Security Retirement for property that doesn't exist?

Answer:
i had a problem similar to this; skip an atty and go to federal court and sue the dept of treasury for fraud. IN a day or two, the judge will force the atty for the dept of treasury in your city to come to court and have a meeting with you.........in a few minutes/hours, your problem should be solved. ---mine dealt with income taxes not coming out of my pay check and the fed had to admit they never bothered sending a notice to me. All was corrected in 30 min. available to guide you further

If I were to hazard a guess, the bank forgave the mortgage debt, and the IRS is saying that the forgiven debt is taxable income. If you had a USDA loan, that would potentially explain the classification as "agricultural" land. If that's the case, then you really need to talk to a good lawyer, because you would legally owe the IRS the money, and they do not go away, and can, I believe, legally garnish the social security payments.
