How long will it take to close on a USDA loan?

If underwriters take too long to close my loan request?

  • for a refinancing deal on my house, do I have to start over submitting figures again or what? I think I was told the application figures expired after 90 days. I was called today to sign paperwork but it is a few days over 90 days now. Should I keep quiet and sign loan docs or should I raise this question? I don't want somebody coming back 3 years from now when interests rates are high and say we have a nonbinding contract because of this loophole and need to redo our home loan again.

  • Answer:

Once you sign the note and it records there is absolutely no way anyone could come back and change the terms. Usually the 90 day period applies to appraisals and the lender might have already had the appraiser update the appraisal report current comparables in your area without you knowing. Sometimes the lock expiring can be an issue but if everything is on the note as originally discussed then you are good to go. Congrats.
