Do fees get charged when you change options in a 401(k)?
-
I want to invest in a specific strategy with my company's 401(k) plan. I know that certain fees apply when you invest, but do they charge extra fees when you switch options around? In other words, if I were to choose certain proportions of my contributions to go to certain funds, do they charge a fee for moving the money to other funds within the same 401(k) plan down the road? If I am being unclear, let me know and I'll try to clarify my question.

Answer:
No, normally there are no fees for changing investments. You do need to check with your company's plan administrator to see if the investment you want to make is available under your employer's 401k plan -- you can only select those funds/investments offered by the plan. There are probably limitations on when you can change.
