How can I save money instead of spending it?

How can i save money, i always end up spending it!?

  • Hi i really need to start saving my money and taking things a little bit more seriously, here's the story, well every time i have some money saved up i see a nice handbag in a shop and have to have it! Or i spend it on clothes etc. I am going to start college soon and need to start changing my ways, i need to save my money!! It would be really helpful if you have any tips that can help thanks :):)

    What you lack is discipline and nobody can supply it for you. A good way to start is by deciding to save a percentage of any money that you get, perhaps 10% at first. If you receive a holiday gift of cash, put that % into a savings account right away. It'll be more difficult to get to it if it's in a bank. Good luck!

OK - my daughter had a problem with this. We had an old joint bank account which we gave her access to (just for transferring money into!) Now if she wants something, she has to get one of us to transfrer HER money from that account - it stops her and makes her realise that she now needs to justify her purchase to either Mom or Dad!

pretty dresses and hand bags will always be there. maybe it is the thought of "have to have it" should be changed. because actually you don't have to have it. but a little bid of money aside for luxury, but not all of it.

Is it easier for you to spend cash or to use credit or write a check? Most people have a harder time spending cash, especially if you don't carry it with you. Make yourself a budget and pay yourself first. Open a savings account which is seperate from your checking account. One that cannot be drawn on if you overdraft your checking. Decide how much you want to save each paycheck and deposit that money in the savings account. If you have to go to the bank to get cash out of the account you will be less likely to spend your savings. You might want to have a long term savings, for college expenses etc and a short term savings for "wants" that are not "needs". That way you can still reward yourself sometimes with a fun item. Getting into the habit of knowing where you are spending your money and haveing a plan for savings is a very responsible thing to do and will be a very good habit to get into.

buy premium bonds or shares.....that way you cant spend it and may even win the premium bond monthly draws too!

fnd ways to lower the amount of money u spend on eating out and other stuff u don't really need.or u can work more and make a little extra money. that will help u b able to save some money.take your lunch to work instead of buying something out.

At the moment you main concern is to study hard in college and pass your exams.Think about saving money when you start working.
