How can I pay my bills when employer doesn't pay me unexpectedly?
-
If I don't get paid for last month work and wasn't informed about it what do I have to do if I can't pay my rent and other bills or can't even buy food because I have no savings or can't ask anyone to lend me some money? How can I explain that to my landlord and all the other companies? I don't want this to show up on my credit report!!??

Answer:
You didn't get paid last month at all? All of February? What if they don't pay you again for this month - March? It is time to start finding another job ASAP. To pay your bills, take things to a pawn shop along with your ID. Music equipment, computers, jewelry, tvs, cameras, anything..

Go to the Citizen's Advice Bureau for help - you may be entitled to some sort of 'crisis loan' or income support benefit until the matter is either resolved by your employer (or they go bust, in which case you may or may not be entitled to statutory redundancy pay). Not always easy, but they say you should try to have 3 months' salary saved up for rainy days like this. If you're desparate, I'm sure you've got things that you can sell in order to keep a roof over your head? It amazes me how many people are 'broke' but they have flat-screen TVs, jewellery and other items that they can stick on eBAY for quick cashflow problems. Don't go to a loan shark and speak to your bank to explain your situation and try to negotiate a temporary overdraft facility that doesn't charge a prohibitively expensive interest rate. If a company doesn't pay you, things are REALLY bad, so assume you won't get paid by them ever again and make every effort to find a new job as soon as possible, even if this means taking a bit of a pay-cut (having SOME money coming in is better than having NO money coming in). Good luck.

You need to negotiate time to pay with your landlord and the other companies. It is not their problem, it is yours (even though it's not your fault). I presume you have applied for whatever benefits you are entitled to? I know you don't want this on your credit report - no one wants anything bad on ther credit report! Unfortunatel, if you don't pay what you should, when you should, it will get on there (probably not your rent). However, if it is only for a month or two, it shouldn't affect it much, and you can always have a 'notice of correcton' put on your report where you explain what went wrong.
