Can someone on ebay rip you off?

Is someone trying to rip me off on eBay?

  • I bought an item about a week and a half ago ans still have not received it. The seller did send me this message a couple days ago: "Enter your question hJust as a reminder- items will ship sooner if you leave positive feedback asap. Paypal holds money until feedback is left so due to me taking care of the shipping costs I would greatly appreciate you leaving feedback even before you receive the item....I guarantee you will like the item 100%! I'm also throwing in a free item just for waiting so itll be a surprise when you open your box. Thanks and I appreciate your business. You're item may already be shipped but still leave feedback. ere -- The shipping was free however should there ever be a reason for me to have to leave feedback before receiving what I ordered? What should my next step be...thanks.

Reply saying that you are looking forward to receiving the item and will leave feedback as soon as it arrives. If the item is already shipped, perhaps you will get it in a day or two, and your feedback will enable paypal to release the funds which they have received and are holding for him/her. I don't know if this is a scam or simply someone looking to get the money ASAP, and we all need money fast in these strange times, but you obviously can't leave feedback that you got it safely, before it arrives.

Send them a note and let them know you will give feedback once you get your item. I do not think feedback has anything to do with getting your money from ebay. If they do not send the item I would contact ebay.

I have never had that happen to me. Something is off there! There should be a contact us button and report the sender. Also contact pay-pal if you have been charged.

It might be true that the seller can withdraw the money from their PayPal account sooner if you leave postive feedback. If this is the case I can see why they've said that, but I still think its dodgy. Theres NO WAY you should be asked to leave postitive feedback before receiving the goods. By leaving postive feedback your potentially throwing away your PayPal guarantee as well, meaning you may not get a refund if the goods don't turn up or are unsatisfactory. I'd send the seller a message back advising you'll leave them some positive feedback once you've received the goods as described. The quicker you receive them the sooner you'll leave postitive feedback. Good luck with this, I hope you don't get scammed!
