Paying off student loans?

What tips would you give me on paying my student loans back?

  • I have 20,000 dollars in student loans but thankfully to Income Based Repayment I dont owe anything yet. I recently picked up a part time job and ill be making about 800 dollars a month. I dont have any other bills other than student loans. I dont have rent etc. bc I live with my fiance but I will be paying the electricity bill which is about 70-100 dollars a month. What advice would you give me on paying my loans back but also being able to keep about a 100-150 bucks for spending money for myself.

  • Answer:

Good question, this is what I would do. Put at least the $550 to 600 in that you can afford right now. Your student loans are NEVER a write off. Not through bankruptcy, nor hardship. Eventually, I believe the government will raise taxes on all things to pay our national-tradegy debt down. So pay now, or pay more later. My tip, is to get it done and over with as soon as you can, and especially before the wedding, because after that you may have another bill to pay.
