How do I send small packages from Canada to U.S.A?

Safest/Fastest way to send money to someone in Canada from the USA?

I am going to be travelling for a couple of months and won't get paid until I am in transit. I am curious what the best way to send money is from the USA to my roomate in Canada (other than online banking, as I will be carrying travellers cheques and cash). I want to make it as easy as possible, but I can't deposit my cheque into my Canadian bank account from the USA. Any suggestions?

I'm pretty sure Western Union would work for you, they are in both CA and US.
