How is it being a Paramedic?

How much would a kindergarten teacher and a paramedic make roughly? What kind of life could we live?

I am currently going to school to become a kindergarten teacher on Long Island. My boyfriend is an EMT-B for a private ambulance company. He will most likely become a paramedic and continue on to work for this company. He and I are going to move in together soon, we will buy a new apartment. In a few years- humoring that he will become a paramedic and I will have a job as a kindergarten teacher in Nassau or Suffolk county, how much will we both make together per year? Will we live a comfortable life on Long Island?

Depends on the school system that hires you. HS teacher just hired in Sept 2011 starting salary was 57k. Paramedic in NYC earnings are plus You cannot afford Long Island because you pay 49% of you income in taxes leaving you 1/2 your money and that is not enough for NYC or Long Island.
