How can I get a loan without a job?

Where can I get a loan without a job in the UK?

  • I need 2 thousand pounds so that I can do an abseiling cource and buy all the equpiment needed. I have already got a job abseiling as soon as I pass my cource and buy my stuff for it. I am 19 and no longer work. Is there any place I can get a loan for that sort of money without a job? Jack

  • Answer:

Jack, Just ask your new potential employers to give you the loan to go on the Abseiling course. After all they are going to hire you as soon as you succeed so they won't mind giving you a loan. Unfortunately short of your new employer or your parents, there is no bank, building society or any other institution that will lend you money when you have no job, because you simply won't be able to pay it back! They will also be worried that if you fall whilst abseiling, they will lose their money totally.

If your employer will not pay for your training, it's not worth the investment. You'd be better off spending £2k on a more generic qualification that will give you more employment opportunities and earning potential in the future. Get a job, get the experience and qualifications in your spare time (financed by your job) and don't get into debt for it. Consider sponsorship (i.e. ask all the businesses is your area if they will sponsor you in exchange for advertising their services/products on your clothing for 1 year). If you get 5 companies sponsoring you £400 each, you could raise the money that way. No one sensible will lend you £2000 (plus interest) for a course that you might not even pass. Try to be realistic and consider whether you could invest your time/money better in other ways.

you can't get a loan unless you have income so borrow from your family instead

Unlikely. Lenders know that state benefits only pay what the govenment believe is the bare minimum for survival. If there is no 'spare' cash then the lenders know that the chance of them getting their monthly payment every month for X months is very limited. Toooooo Risky. Get a job - any job - once you have been in work 6 months you should be able to get a loan and then you will be on your way to the job you really want. Good luck, and remember *any* job.

You need to do is start applying for loans for the unemployed. You need to make sure the amount you are applying for is something that will get you through the next year. Both homeowner and non-homeowners can apply for these types of loans as they can be either secured or unsecured depending on your predicament. Secured loans typically allow a longer pay back period and a lower interest rate.

You CAN'T get a loan without an income. You DON'T have a job abseiling. If this were a REAL job, they would pay for your training, or at least allow you to make payments out of your first few paychecks. You are TRYING to get ripped off by whoever is selling you the course and equipment.
