How do I get an IM account?

How do you get money out of a bank account? im 16 years old?

  • i have a bank account but i want to pull some money out because i need to buy running shoes for an upcomming sport, and my current ones cause problems for my feet. my mom said she was just going to buy them for me, but she never does/never goes to the store, and im sick of waiting, cause track practice already started and i dont even want to experience the pain in my feet again i just want to know if i cant drive to the bank and pull money out of my account i have my account number, but i dont exactly know how to get money...ive never done it before; and frankly im alittle nervous i have my drivers lisence and all...(i live in washington state) but would they ask me like, "are you over 18"? or any questions?

  • Answer:

If it is your savings account, just walk in (with some id is always a good idea), fill out a withdrawal slip, and present it to the teller. They would only ask you if you are over 18 if you were trying to open a checking account or get a credit card (and the answer is "NO.")

Is the account in YOUR name, or are you added to someone's account. Unless you have your own account, newsflash, no one will let you make a withdrawal at 16. Now if you do have your own account with only your name on it, you should also have a debit card or an atm card that you can just take money out of any atm or get cash back at most stores. If you don't have the card or your parents didn't give it to you because they don't want you to spend the money you most likely didn't earn, your options are limited. You mentioned you have an account number. Do you have a checkbook? If so you can always write a check out to cash and get the money that way. And lastly if all else doesn't apply, you can always try going into the bank with your account number and filling out a withdrawal form they'll have ready at the front table when you walk in. Now if you have to do that you WILL be asked for your ID and if the account is not in your name, or if your parents have put any sort of restrictions on it they won't give you the money. But that's the worst of it, you'll just be turned down is all. Although it does sound like the account may not be in your name if all you have is a number.
