You will have to be a legal charity to do both of these. Depending on what the charity is for, you may be able to get a license for a lottery. In the U.S. and many other countries only the government and charities are allowed to hold lotteries. Find out how to get this license and apply for it. Advertise your charity and get people to donate to it. If you are trying to raise money for a charity other than your own you will have to have some way of raising the money such as hosting a cook out, flee market, or a community event.

Bake sale, car wash, garage sale, donations... so many ways! It depends on the charity. For example, I am the vice president of the journalism honor society at my school and we sold subscriptions to a future publication we were going to produce as a means of funding the publication. We later mailed the magazine to the people who paid and that's how we earned money.

Have a community garage sale. - get people to donate items. Bake sale. Car Wash. Raffle. Change collection cans in local stores.

have a cookout with activities and charge people like $3 to $5 to come to it.
