When is investment considered to be "at-risk?

What qualifies me to get the opportunity to be considered as an intern at an Investment Bank?

• Having done much research, and from client interactions, I really want to get into investment banking. I am currently a junior in college and NO it is not an IVY league college but a very respectable Institution. Also, I am a Personal Banker for about a year now and I feel that is where typically the realization came from in acquiring such a position. I understand the downsides of Investment Banking such as working ungodly hours, but I feel that it is a very interesting field to get into. I know retail banking has nothing to do with the investment banking, but I am not quite sure if it counts as any experience towards attaining an internship at an Investment Bank such as Goldman Sachs or JP Morgan. Ofcourse long term goals then would be to successfully make contacts by networking and proving myself in order to be offered a career. I need some guidance regarding my approach.   Sounds like you got everything down, albeit an Ivy education would improve your chances. Your best bet is a strong personal portfolio that showcases your strength and knowledge in the field. Good Luck!
