Where To Check Waec For Free?

Where to check my FICO credit score Free?

  • I know that you are entitled to receive a free copy of your credit score for your own review once every year. I know that it is available somewhere entirely for free as it is every person's right to check their score once a year. I think I remember it being a .gov site. Please recommend a place where it is ENTIRELY free to get my score. Any recommendations like Freecreditreport.com where I have to give my credit card info and enroll in some bogus service will be ignored and will get a thumbs down from me.

  • Answer:

You are entitled to obtain one free credit report per year from each of the three major reporting bureaus: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. They have set up a website, annualcreditreport.com, which was set up expressly to fulfill the mandate of the law. They do NOT provide your FICO score, only your complete report. The credit bureaus charge for FICO score info. This is how they make their money, besides selling your credit report to those where you have applied for credit, and selling "headers" to prospective credit grantors. Anybody who claims to give you a "free" FICO score is a scam. You have to buy from them -- a credit "monitoring" service or some such. Credit monitoring services are really worse than worthless. The more places that collect your credit data, the more likely you are to become the victim of identity theft. The most egregious instances of ID theft & data losses are all credit grantors & credit reporting services. E.g. CheckPoint, TJMaxx, etc. You can pay for your FICO score from annualcreditreport.com, but you do not have to buy anything to get your reports. Remember, the law requires that they provide your credit report, NOT your FICO score.

The credit bureaus came up with a great way to make money. FICO scores - the biggest scam known to man kind and this is why: When you apply for a loan like a car or a mortgage the loan officer makes up his/her own credit score. They look at your report (one of the 3 or all 3) and check for any defaults or how you like to use credit. Then they take into account how long your work history has been and how much your salary is. They also take in if you have a college degree and what you field you are in. I have never known my credit score. I have purchased 4 and sold 3 homes and have never felt a need to know. I know what is on my reports, line by line. I have also learned what it takes to keep it in top shape. If you can't make your score better, why bother even knowing it. No place gives you the score for free. Opening a WAMU account (I've heard) gives you a credit score, but of course its one their spreasheets calculate, not one of the 3 bureaus. Bankrate.com has a fico score estimator. /

Honestly, I have never found a place to get your Fair Isaac & Company score. I truly believe that because Fair Isaac & Company is a for profit company that by law does not need to provide you with a score. The reason they provide it to a lender is because the lender is paying a rate for the use of Fair Isaac's proprietary software. Fair Isaac's has no legal obligation to give anyone free access to this software thus there is a fee. You may get a free credit report (which is the data) by visiting the Federal Trade Commission website run by the U.S. government at the link listed below. Since they give you an annual report free of charge paid for by taxpayers to all three companies they may have a $5 extra charge vs. the $15.00 at Equifax. It is not "fair" but it is the truth as I know it to be. You may be able to estimate your FICO score based on the free annual credit report and bankrate.com if you cannot pay the $5.00 more for the score. I agree not to use a "free" service, but under law you are entitled to only one free credit report per year, through the FTC which is a really free. I agree not to use fake free services, offered by credit cards. I once had a WaMu card like the first answer and it made me more obsessive about my score. I use 2% of my available credit now and pay all bills in full, because I learned the hard way. Have a great day! Jason
